Shallots and Chives

By this point I realize I've shown you all of my plants except the Shallots and Chives.

I bought some bulbs from Lowes for the Shallots and have planted them in a planter.  I have been please by the many leaves coming out of one bulb, which is very different from the onions.   Shallots are part of the onion family but grow like garlic.  Multiple bulbs will form from one bulbs.  Here is the progress.  In the background you might see some garlic plants and the onion leaves from the neighbor planter might be dipping in.

As far as the chives.   Those seeds never came out.   I suspect that was because they were seeds from last year.   I should try some more seeds.   But I decided for to grab the plant at Kmart.   They had Bonnie's plants out there and here are my store bought chives.   I was careful to look for ones that didn't have much roots coming out from the bottom and where not circling.   I hear that's bad but I'm not sure why.   I'll try to research it.  Right now my priority is to get this into a bigger pot or the garden before the roots start circling.
